Future Fund

The Future Fund of Central New York is a giving circle established to involve and empower emerging philanthropists to make the Central New York community a better place to live and work. Its membership is involved in building a charitable endowment and providing grants in program areas that change each year based on the vote of the membership.

Reaching Our Goal

Last Updated Apr 2010
To meet our goals, we must recruit at least 100 regular members at $100 each, secure matching gifts totaling $5,000 per year for another three years, and raise an additional $8,000 to build the endowment.

The Future Fund’s membership committee is aggressively identifying and soliciting hundreds of new emerging philanthropists for membership. The Fund’s development committee is charged with identifying matching donors and endowment donors.

Matching Donors
Since all the money granted by the Fund comes from matching donors, it is imperative that matching funding continue. Otherwise, the members will have no money to give away and the entire enterprise—teaching emerging philanthropists about grantmaking—will collapse. We have targeted $5,000 per year in the 2007–08, 2008–09, and 2009–10 grant years.

Endowment Donors
To augment the permanent endowment by $8,000, we will need a variety of gifts this year of various sizes, as shown below:

2 gifts of $1,000 = $2,000
6 gifts of $500 = $3,000
8 gifts of $250 = $2,000
10 gifts of $100 = $1,000
26 gifts total = $8,000

We anticipate these gifts will come from current and past members of the Fund, as well as other friends in the community. Finally, we look forward gratefully to the ongoing in-kind support from the Central New York Community Foundation as we continue to grow the Fund.
