The recently formed Cayuga Community Fund, administered by the Community Foundation, received a jumpstart in its fundraising by receiving a challenge grant from the Stardust Foundation of Central New York in the amount of $250,000. The grant will be used to match contributions to the Cayuga Community Fund dollar for dollar until September 30, 2009.
The Cayuga Community Fund was created to benefit residents of Cayuga County by serving as a source of permanent charitable dollars available to local not-for-profits. Thousands of dollars are expected to be granted from this endowment fund annually to aid vital programs in education, health, social services, the arts, civic and environmental concerns, as well as the preservation of historic resources in Cayuga County.
