In June, our board of directors approved a $130,000 grant to Oneida Healthcare Center towards its renovation and expansion capital campaign. This is the largest grant we have awarded to date in Madison County.
The hospital’s $18.2 million renovation project will modernize the facility, allowing it to streamline its flow of patients and increase available services. Expansion plans include:
Fifteen new patient rooms in the Ambulatory Surgery Center
Expansion of clinical space in the Emergency Department, including additional patient rooms
Six spacious private patient rooms combined with a new central nursing workstation for the Intensive Care Unit
Four new spacious state-of-the-art operating rooms with adequate space for today’s technology and the necessary support for them, including a new Central Sterile area and dedicated elevator for improved efficiency
A post-operative care area with private bed spaces and a new nursing workstation that will allow consistent monitoring of every patient
New Information Technology Center providing enhanced security and improved system stability
Improved entranceway for patients and visitors with heated sidewalks to ensure adequate snow melt and a canopy overhead to serve as protection from inclement weather
"We are thrilled to receive this level of support from the Community Foundation," CEO Gene Morreale said upon learning of the grant. "They have a very thorough and rigorous application process to assure that their investments will have the intended impact on the community and we are indeed honored to be recognized as worthy stewards of their support. This very generous gift is extremely important to the overall success of the Oneida HealthCaring Campaign."
The first phase of the renovation, including the new Surgery Center and ICU, opened on October 7.
