Over our 83-year history, thousands of donors have trusted us to be responsible stewards of their charitable dollars. In return, we strive to ensure that our grant awards result in successful outcomes. For those that don’t, we hope to learn why they were unsuccessful and what lessons can be learned to inform our future grantmaking.
This winter, we conducted an assessment of the outcomes of our past grants and at the same time reviewed our current reporting procedures to see what we can do to make the application and reporting easier for our grantees. As a result of the valuable feedback we received from past grant recipients, we decided to change our evaluation procedures.
The new method is designed to be simpler and more meaningful for all parties involved. We will reframe both our grant application and reporting form to be more consistent with the types of information that we would like to evaluate and understand. In return, we hope to be able to provide all of our grantees with feedback that can inform their future grantmaking.
If you are a grantee not-for-profit organization, this mutually beneficial reporting system will provide you with feedback on our final assessment of your grant. With this new emphasis on evaluation and shared learning, we hope to increase our efficiencies and the quality of feedback received by both parties. Our new forms and procedures should be ready to launch this fall, so be on the lookout for them!
