The Community Fund
Our Community Grantmaking program, funded in large part by the Community Fund, invests in effective nonprofit organizations in Onondaga and Madison Counties through a competitive grantmaking process. Making a contribution to the Community Fund allows you to join forces with other donors to achieve the greatest possible impact.

The Baltimore Woods Nature Center Agency Fund
Baltimore Woods Nature Center is a not-for-profit environmental education organization committed to promoting environmental awareness, understanding, and responsible natural resource stewardship among all people, especially children.

The William & Helen Burke Memorial Fund
This fund was established in the loving memory of William & Helen Burke. William and Helen created a lasting legacy for their family through their care and involvement within the Central New York community.

The Cayuga Community Fund
The Cayuga Community Fund was created to benefit residents of Cayuga County by serving as a source of permanent charitable dollars available to not-for-profits serving that county.

The Suzanne Civitello Memorial Scholarship Fund
After Suzy’s sudden death in July 2000, her parents established this scholarship for a Fayetteville-Manlius High School graduate who exemplifies dedication to community, especially through service to children, the underprivileged or disabled, and a spirit of compassion and loyalty.

The Domestic Violence Endowment & Support Fund (DoVES)
Created by a caring and enthusiastic group committed to ending violence against women, the DoVES Fund was established in order to provide aid to victims of domestic violence.

The Elberle Family Fund
Richard D. "Buz" Eberle, M.D. passed away at age 89 on Veterans Day, 2011. Richard spent almost his entire life in Central New York, growing up in Skaneateles and later attending Hamilton College and the Syracuse University College of Medicine.

The Fayetteville-Manlius: A Better Chance Fund
Since 1963, A Better Chance has been opening the door to educational opportunities for thousands of young people of color in this nation. Its mission is to increase substantially the number of well-educated young people of color who are capable of assuming positions of responsibility and leadership in American society.

The Friends of Pro-Fac Fund
A large group of fruit and vegetable growers, organized through a cooperative called Pro-Fac, recognized an opportunity to set aside funds in support of leadership development for the food and agricultural industry in NYS. These members wish to provide a consistent source of revenue for the program with annual distributions from this fund.

Eric R. Gingold Foundation Fund
Eric Gingold was a 27-year old son, grandson, brother, uncle and future husband, successful at everything he did in life, when diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of sino-nasal cancer. This fund was created in Eric’s memory, to fund research and projects that enhance the quality of life for patients and their families through increased awareness, prevention, earlier detection, and improved treatment options for the less common forms of these diseases.

Angela Harris Memorial Fund
Angela Lynn Harris was just one of 1,360 who died from Domestic Violence in 2009. Domestic & Dating Violence has many different faces and a story to go with each. Many of these stories go untold. Angela would not want another person to experience what she had. She would not want another precious child to live thru the experience her son has, the experience of losing one or both of their parents to this violence.

The Kathleen Sill Hoffman Hershberger Memorial Fund
The Kathleen Sill Hoffman Hershberger Memorial Fund was established to honor Kathleen's life. Kaye bravely battled breast cancer and sadly lost that battle in June of 2009. This fund will assist young mothers who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer to access the many support services available and to help families cope during this difficult time.

The Kara Hood Memorial Scholarship Fund
Kara Hood, a 1995 graudate of Jamesville-DeWitt High School, was killed in an automobile accident on January 15, 2001 in South Africa. Her short career, after graduating with honors from Trinity College in 1999, involved working for the underserved populations of South Africa. Kara's friends and family established this scholarship in her memory.

The Imagination Library provides a new, age-appropriate, book each month to every child in the Syracuse Zip Codes from birth to age five – at no cost to the family! Imagination Library depends upon the support of generous donors like you, with plans to expand as funds permit.

The KJ’s Angels Fund
KJ's Angels was created by Linda Hicks’ family and friend, Cindy Squillace, after Linda’s baby boy, Kevin Jaron (KJ), passed away in 2002. It is the KJ's Angels' mission to assist bereaved families with some of the financial burdens they will face and to connect families with emotional support.

The Literacy Coalition of Onondaga County possesses a mission to build upon their heritage and collectively support community initiatives that raise literacy levels across the lifespan in Onondaga County. Solving the problem of low literacy gets at the root of educational, social and economic issues in a way that no single subject does.

The Joel David Namy Scholarship Fund was created in honor of the late Joel Namy, who passed away while serving as a Cadet at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

The New York State Agricultural Society FoundationThe New York State Agricultural Society, which has serves as the founding agricultural organization in New York, established this Foundation to help carry out its mission of education, leadership development and recognition for future generations.

The Bryan M. Place Charitable Fund
Bryan M. Place passed away unexpectedly in January 2010 of an aortic aneurysm. His family and friends have organized the Bryan M. Place Charitable Fund in his honor, recognizing his substantial commitment to the local Manlius community. The Bryan M. Place Charitable Fund is a not-for-profit fund existing for the express purpose of giving back to the local Central New York community.

J. Daniel & Diane Pluff Fund

J. Daniel Pluff, a prominent local financial advisor, established this fund with his wife Diane to benefit a cause that was deeply personal to them – services for children with special needs. When their two daughters, Anna now 13 and Sophie age 11, were born prematurely, they both were found to have moderate to severe hearing loss in both ears. Early intervention services helped both girls to adapt extremely well with therapy and hearing technology.

The Greater Pulaski Community Endowment Fund provides grants to not-for-profit organizations addressing community needs in the village of Pulaski and the town of Richland.

Save 711 Project Fund
The 1910-11 AME Zion Church at 711 Fayette Street, Syracuse, is the oldest standing African American church building in the city of Syracuse, designed by Syracuse architect Charles Colton. Although in deteriorated condition, the building stands in its original location, with original interior and exterior details (including stained glass windows, circular staircases, and dormer windows).

Jenni-Lyn Watson, 20, of Liverpool passed away unexpectedly in November 2010. The Jenni-Lyn Watson Memorial Fund was established by her family to further enhance the Central New York arts landscape in her memory.

The Mark J. Wright Scholarship for Young Artist
Mark J. Wright, staff member at the Onondaga Cultural Resources Council, passed away on November 12, 2010 at the age of 50. Wright interacted with arts groups from across a five-county area and strongly believed in the arts’ role in building and expanding community.

Our 85th Anniversary
The Central New York Community Foundation is celebrating its 85th Anniversary with various celebrations and grantmaking opportunities over the course of 2012.

The CNY85 Giving Project

In celebration of our 85-year anniversary, The CNY85 Giving Project will award grants to projects that are addressing Central New York's greatest needs. Winners will be decided by public vote.
